This new reliable and valid survey is specifically designed to assess student perceptions of confidence, critical thinking, learning activities, skills, and perceived readiness to handle the responsibilities of a professional nurse, making it highly relevant for nursing education programs.
Nursing faculty, researchers, and students can use this survey to provide insights into students’ preparedness for professional practice.

New features include:
Measurement of 8 factors (sub-scales): Role Confidence, Manage Patient Care, Support, Role Satisfaction, Stress/Burnout, Resilience, Organizational Commitment, and Preceptorship.
Learning Needs Assessment: Measures confidence in performing nursing skills (skills listed can be changed to meet study or population needs)
Demographic section: Questions can be modified or deleted, as needed.
We suggest data collection occurs within 6 weeks of the start of program, mid-point of the program, and end of the program. Data collected can be used to measure changes in factor scores over time.
Survey items can be entered into any electronic survey platform.
We are exploring a data repository to provide benchmarking on the new factors. Please contact us if you can share your de-identified data.
Please note: A single question cannot be used on its own to score an outcome measure. Multiple questions are used to assess various attributes of the concept being measured.

At the request from an NPD Practitioner, Dr. Casey and Dr. Fink partnered with the Association for Nursing Professional Development to develop the ANPD Casey-Fink Nursing Professional Development (NPD) Transition Experience Survey© 2024.
This valid and reliable survey is expertly designed to assess the transition experiences of novice nursing professional development practitioners (NPDPs) and support them in their professional role development.
This new survey provides a voice to the needs of novice NPDPs and evidence for developing structured NPD transition to practice programs.

You have our permission to use the Casey-Fink Surveys© free of cost.
Individuals are required to register for access to each survey instrument, psychometrics (reliability/validity), and scoring instructions. By registering, your information (name, title, institution where the survey is used, contact information, and purpose for use of the survey) will be kept confidential and will not be shared with third parties.
This information helps to track usage, better understand our customers, and to ensure the surveys are being used appropriately. After registration, you will have access to the survey materials to use in your practice or education setting. We encourage you to share your results with us so we can continue to improve the survey instruments.
All Casey-Fink Surveys are copyrighted and should not be changed without written permission from the authors. Revisions made to survey items can affect the reliability and validity of the instrument.
